Nightfall by Robert Silverberg, Isaac Asimov
Did not finish book. Stopped at 77%.
A fascinating premise, and the book started well enough. I was, in fact, really into it. However, my ability to suspend disbelief fell apart completely at the halfway point. First of all, they have electric lighting. Initially, I assumed they'd never developed it given their unique situation, but no, they did. It's spelled right out that all they have to do is flip a switch and, voilĂ , light. That, however, only cracked the fantasy for me. What yanked me out completely is that eclipses only happen on one small portion of a planet at a time. Once I saw those problems, the whole universe fell apart for me, and I stopped at page 262 because it was all just too incredible.
