The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls
4.0
4.25/5. Physical book. My bestie lent me this book. I know it is one of her favorites and it did not disappoint. Walls' writing made me instantly relate to her and her family. Knowing the book was a memoir and from information on the back cover, I knew it was going to be a hard read. It was, but I found myself wanting to read more every night. At first, Rex and Rose Mary seemed dysfunctional and a little eccentric. As the book progressed, they morphed into selfish, self-centered neglectful parents. They never grew up. Never took responsibility for anything or anyone. My heart ached for the kids and for the parents, as well. This bill really puts into perspective the fact that people face so many traumatic events in life that shape who they are. I would recommend wholeheartedly, but not sure I would read it again because of the content.
