The Humans by Matt Haig

4.0

A corky, touching novel.

Most conventional sci-fi stories used travel to other planets and interactions with (unsurprisingly human-like) aliens to explore the human condition through the aliens. This story is barely sci-fi but flips the script by using an alien as its vehicle to explore the human condition from an ‘outsider’ perspective. It results in a fun novel with entertaining observations and rewarding character development. Sometimes overly sentimental but that’s alright.
