Lasst uns schweigen wie ein Grab by Eva Plorin, Julie Berry

5.0

one of my childhood favourites!
but am i the only one who feels like the one in the middle should be kitty and the one on the very right should be roberta and not the other way around

i cannot give an unbiased rating or review for this, as nostalgia will always play a part in it. i have loved this book for so many years, and i have so many times been cross with the faulty covers in both the german and the english version, even though they are both stunning, with martha's comments that risk to give everything away and with those stiff bodies that just don't want to stay under the surface so one might plant a decent cherry tree. this time around i could appreciate many things more, like the strong female characters and the girls supporting each other despite their differences while still disagreeing with each other and being unfair sometimes, the historical details, although i always found them fascinating, and the humour that i might have missed in parts due to the translation. but i also noticed of course as i am no longer a child that it is not the most complex of stories ane that is ok. i still love the ending and all the characters and especially 'darling julian's mother with all of my heart, and i still wish i could be part of such a fabulous scandalous sisterhood.
