Water Bound by Christine Feehan
2.0
That's a lot of five star reviews. I was not expecting more romance than fantasy from the description, or to have the word cock randomly peppered in here and there. But realistically it's romance with some supernatural elements. Here are some examples of the writing:
"her womb reacted"
"he craved the sound of Rikki's voice, that soft monotone soothed him"
"She relaxed into him, a soft warmth that made him more of a man and less of a killing machine"
"Her eyes were drenched in desire"
And his cock has been heavy and full at least twice.
So, the main character is said to be "high functioning" autistic, which is a problematic term in the first place . Throughout the beginning of the book she keeps mentioning how people are uncomfortable with the way she stares and it took me until 2/3 of the way through the book to realize their uncomfortable with her being autistic. She also keeps asking and telling Lev not to touch her and he keeps doing it anyway, over and over and over, and it's somehow not a problem.
The narrator was good, the audio quality was so so, a little tinny.
I quit with 5 hours left to the audiobook.
