Twenty-Seven Minutes by Ashley Tate

4.0

Many thanks to Poisoned Pen Press for providing an advanced copy of this story about kids in high school who are forever scarred by an accident on a bridge following a party with lots of alcohol. Tate writes this story with all of the characters in the small town frozen in time psychological as a result of the accident. No one has moved forward in their lives - dreams about life are shattered and discarded, parents are in deep grief a decade later. Only one kid has made it out of the town.

They are all brought together again for a 10 year memorial event, and secrets and the truth are eventually revealed as the big day approaches. It was hard to read a story involving adults who are stuck as their annoying teenage selves, but that was the truth of their characters. Worth a read.
