This book felt like the perfect way to start the year. This was the perfect combination of everything I used to be hate to read: romance, trope-filled, overly cute and easy read. But I conquered my fear and I loved this book. Charecter wise, I felt very aligned with the MC, Olive - at times she got on my nerves but generally I understood and supported everything she was doing. Adam was a great charecter (I can see the Kylo Ren influence) who I also liked. The side charecters were all likeable enough (apart from *him* ) but I didn't feel attached to them in any way. The romance worked for me, it felt comfortable and I loved the amount of inside jokes they had with each other. The main conflict in the book didn't happen until at least 2/3 of the way through and for that reason I felt like it was resolved slightly too quickly. The 🌶 scenes were great (it felt authentic to the fanfiction roots of the author)
I have so many quotes page flagged - there were so many great lines that felt very quotable.
World-building was limited because it wasn't essential to the plot and I liked that - it didn't take the time to describe every pipette in detail because that wasn't relevant.
Overall, a great read with great tropes that made it a cute, fluffy first book of the year.
