Fantastic book! Post reading I was fascinated but not surprised to learn that this near-future sci fi novel was written by an author generally specializing in historical fiction. Really insightful and well-researched look into several current trends I'm fascinated by (increasing elderly populations, the importance of care work). Simultaneously clever, surprising and emotional character arcs. It's longer, so you have to be ready to settle in, but I found it well worth it.
