New Maps of Hell: A Survey of Science Fiction by Kingsley Amis

This is a very slim volume but Mr Amis manages to set out, explain and reinforce his ideas very neatly indeed. I disagree with him on details but like the general thrust of his argument. His discussion why SF was/is a marginalised genre is spot on, though. However, where we most agree is where he talks about how much fun can be had in genre reading when you put aside the idea that you are slumming it.
