The writing just didn’t make sense to me. 90% of this book is dark and serious and clearly written for an adult audience, but then there’s bits tossed in that feel like they belong in a YA book. The relationships aren’t fully developed in a way that makes sense for anything that ended up happening. The main character’s behaviors and actions throughout the book really didn’t make a lot of sense to me, but maybe I just didn’t understand her.
I do appreciate the fact that this is something totally different than anything I’ve ever read. I can also acknowledge that there are a lot of important themes in this book. I just didn’t like how it was presented, very off-putting to me but I’m certain lots of others will like it.
