The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix
5.0
A multilayered horror book.
Hendrix spent a good amount of the first and second acts developing the characters and their relationships while sprinkling in horror and thrill. The third act is when everything culminates and some really crazy sh*t happens.
This is my first Hendrix novel after reading his nonfiction book, Paperbacks From Hell. He knows the genre well and has written a satisfying and complete book here. I think my next Hendrix novel will be My Best Friend’s Exorcism.
Highly recommend if you want a vampire novel with a creepy-as-f*ck villain, housewives into true crime novels, and Southern manners.
P.S. The female narrator is one of the best I’ve ever heard.
