Transcendent Kingdom is so completely and totally different than Homegoing, but equally well constructed, emotionally moving, and page turning. Where Homegoing is sweeping, Transcendent Kingdom is compact and intimate. Reading it feels like becoming friends with Gifty - getting to know her over time. There are very few writers that can show this much range from one book to the next. I’m kind of blow away.
