A Scot in the Dark by Sarah MacLean
2.0
Don’t read it for the spice. There’s two scenes that end in utter disappointment.
Don’t read it for the romance. If I have to read “She was not for him” or “she deserved better” from Alec’s brain one more time, I will throat punch someone.
Don’t read it for the drama. The tension is nonexistent. The reasons for staying away from each other are nonexistent. The reveal of Alec’s past was not big enough to warrant him not listening to Lily until the last 2% of the book. It was like she was talking to a brick wall.
Overall, did not like. It had potential but the payoff was not satisfying enough. Could honestly be 200 pages shorter. I just wish they could have gotten over their personal issues sooner and fought against society side by side rather than resisting each other for an absurd amount of time. Alec is just really irritatingly dumb.
