My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
5.0
I’ll be honest, I did like the movie better but I still enjoyed the book. Not only was it a good read but it also made me think. I think it’s obvious to want to side with Anna, she shouldn’t have to be forced to donate every time her sister gets sick. But because the book isn’t just written from Anna’s point of view it’s easy to understand why her mother thinks she should continue donating. It’s easy to find fault in the mother when it’s looked at from everyone else but when her chapters comes along you start to understand her reasoning. Her daughter was diagnosed with cancer at 2 and she vowed that she wouldn’t let her die. Fourteen years later it’s hard to stop fighting even when the battle has already been lost.
Also, not to spoil the end of the book but it was one of the few books that actually made me cry. I hadn’t expected it and it was well written.
