The Alpha and His King by Kiki Clark
3.0
I enjoyed Kai's backstory and overall it was a fun, cute, semi-angsty read. I liked Kai's generally sweet demeanor and his strength when standing up for his family. I enjoyed Rick's empathetic and fair ways of ruling the pack. I also enjoyed the two of them together. However, I felt like Rick was almost too perfect, with the exception of him turning away from Kai for no real reason. And I didn't feel like we really saw Kai and Rick fall in love. It was all very sudden. I loved Jessica and Kai's friendship with her. The side characters were wonderful in general. I liked the hurt/comfort and the mystery surrounding who or what was threatening the pack. It was a fun read. 2/5 spice levels.
Notes: alpha/mate, shifters, family trauma, abuse, witches (fun!), hurt/comfort, raising siblings
