Whispers of You by Catherine Cowles

5.0

I quite literally stayed up until 5 am to finish this book because it was that good. Catherine Cowels is the queen of romance suspense, and while I have loved every book I’ve read from her, Whispers of You is my favorite.

Holt & Wren have the kind of love that everyone dreams of. They know each other better than themselves, and no matter what happens a piece of them has never left the other. Definition of soulmates? Them.

The two of them grow up as childhood friends and start dating really young. When a tragedy breaks them apart, Holt leaves for a decade, enlisting in the military, then private security before he finally comes home. Their second chance wasn’t straightforward, it was heartbreaking & full of angst but at the core of it, the undying love they had for each other never faltered. I never stopped rooting for them (much like the rest of the town).

Holt is literally the most selfless man in the world, sometimes to the point where it does more harm than good. I love how this is explored throughout the book and my heart literally broke for him every time he felt guilty for something that wasn’t his fault.

Wren is an angel of a human being. She finds love and forgiveness in the darkest of situations, turning her trauma into something that can help others. She’s so strong and despite every bad thing that’s happened to her, she still sees light in the world.

The two of them together are so in love it makes my heart ache. I love them an insane amount.

Catherine’s storytelling is phenomenal all throughout, her prose is thoughtful and beautiful, and the suspense element had me on my toes for the whole book. I loved the Hartley family dynamics and the added banter throughout was the perfect balance to the story. I already can’t wait to go back to this town for Echoes of you!

Thank you Catherine for providing me an e-arc! This is a completely honest review.
