A Mathematician's Apology by G.H. Hardy
4.0
This was going to be three stars (the third quarter was rather tiresome) but the last chapter and the introduction makes it 4. My heart weeped as Hardy suddenly took a humble turn, questioning whether his life has come to nothing through his pursuit of mathematics. I didn't really get too much insight into mathematics as a whole, and most of the points seemed trivial in places, but perhaps that is just the nature of Philosophy discussion. Hardy mentions that he might've made a decent philosopher, if he didn't pursue mathematics. I disagree, so why is this rated four stars? His candidness is valuable.
(P.S, I thought that his continual referral to relativity as 'useless' amusing! It's hard to remember when this book was written when you have a modern copy in your hands.)
