Weird, strange, surreal, and nightmarish are all words that one could use to describe this book. It was originally written in French and translated to English. The book was first published in 1994, and the lack of modern technology gives this book a timeless feel akin to the classic mystery and horror novels. It isn’t a long book, but do not mistake it for a quick read. The prose is beautiful and perfectly clear, but the story being told is murky at best and will leave you wondering what really just went down. Don’t be looking for a happy ending in this read, and to be honest, don’t look for much of an ending at all…
