Lessons in Corruption by Giana Darling

2.5

Did I read a different book than everyone else?  My feed is all 5 stars but I don't think I have cringed so much in a book.  The overall plot and world I really enjoyed, but I couldn't handle the dialogue between the two main characters.

One thing that constantly took me out of the dialogue and made me feel like I was reading it and not experiencing it - the constant use of "fuckin'" but the MMC and "freaking" by the FMC.  Look, I get it, it is an MC romance.  And I work in construction so cursing flows like Tim Hortons double doubles.  But in written form, it doesn't flow like in spoken form.  And one of my pet peeves is the constant use of "freaking" (I blame The Bonds That Tie series for this).  I get it, she is a good girl who doesn't curse, but don't curse then.  Use the real word or none at all.

And I got sick of hearing how this 18 year old boy/man slept with hordes of grown women.  Again, I get it, age gap romance, but he didn't sleep with all these grown women since his last birthday.

Rated it a 2.5 because like I said, I like the entry into this world, but I really hope I don't cringe this hard through the series.
