This was a crazy ride. One, because the school shooting led to some harsh truths of the county. Then weaved within this story are heavy religious thoughts and beliefs, including the faith or the lack thereof of the residents. Coupled with relationships of all sorts, past traumas, and ultimately forgiveness.

🩸

The biggest thing here was that the serial killer became active. Kidnapping, slicing, dicing and all else they do. Some residents fled town, some stayed. But Titus did his big one here. Despite people thinking he wasn’t capable, he used his former FBI skills, contacts, and finally broke the case.  He figured out the killers upbringing, their familial and religious upbringing and ties, and then their true identity.

🩸

Anywho, I can definitely see why some people shared that the religious aspects was why they couldn’t enjoy this read. However, I think the religious aspects helped us to see Titus on a deeper level, as well as how people place their faith before their common sense. Believe it or not, some peoples lives are shaped by their religious beliefs, while others are able to keep those beliefs separate.
