Did not finish book. Stopped at 36%.
Babies/fertility can be a trigger for me. This book starts with the kidnapping of a baby. Which I was fine with. There was some family intrigue… several suspects etc. But at this point of the book they start focusing on the mother’s sister-in-law, who suffers from infertility. The woman used to be a nurse in a newborn ward… and is now super bitter and angry to the point that she calls the sister-in-law awful names to her face and makes no point in hiding her hatred.

I couldn’t handle it. Women who suffer infertility can be angry and bitter… but it’s understandable and doesn’t make them monsters. Don’t get me wrong, I understand there are women like this. I just don’t like that this is the image that a lot of infertile mothers get in books/TV/movie. Either women suffering fertility get their miracle baby and live happily ever after, or they are never succesful and become bitter and angry and are never happy for the rest of their life. So I found it very frustrating to see this portrayal again.
