Incredible. Powerful. A story about memory and forgetting, empire and political manoeuvre, women who will not be silenced, told through flashbacks, collections of objects, and stories. I almost regret letting this sit on my 'to read' list as long as it did, but not quite because now I've read it just as the second book is being released and I can continue this story right away.
