Still Beating by Jennifer Hartmann

This book is about a teacher named Cora. Her sister Mandy has been engaged to Dean for 15 years. Cora and Dean have hated each other the last 15 years and bicker, argue and prank each other every chance they get. All that changes when Cora and Dean are assaulted, kidnapped, and locked in their captor’s basement. Cora and Dean have to work together to escape from their abductor.
I don’t want to spoil the plot, but this book was so well rounded. You feel the tension, anger, heartbreak, love, and angst with the characters in this book. This was very well written and I was enraptured with the writing. It drew me in and I didn’t want to come up for air.
⚠️ Please check trigger warnings before reading. This is a very dark book and many mature themes are included in the plot.
