Don't Give the Enemy a Seat at Your Table: It's Time to Win the Battle of Your Mind... by Louie Giglio

So I got this audiobook thinking it was a book like the Unf*ck yourself series, but I didn’t actually read the description. Imagine my surprise when a minister started preaching about the “enemy” at your table-aka the Devil. I thought it would be more metaphorical such as “bad thoughts” that abound in your mind. I am not in line with this minister’s beliefs, which is why I didn’t rate the book, but I listened to the entire book with an open mind.

If anything, I wanted to see what devout Christian people like to listen to, what is being preached. I found the overall messaging to be very negative. Everyone around you is a possible enemy trying to get you to sin and go against God.

With all of the anxiety that there is in the world, it’s sad that people are being told to be so scared of everyone around them -everyone at their “table”. I prefer to think of people in a more positive light. Not everyone is a possible enemy.

Although the minister says he doesn’t want you to be fearful (chapter 6), in the same breath he says “but there IS a REAL enemy…your foe is someone to take seriously”.

All in all this book is not for me. Too much doom and gloom. I think such negativity, in large measure can affect your mood and your mindset.
