The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

5.0

“Sometimes you can do everything right and things will still go wrong. The key is to never stop doing right.” -The Hate U Give

This book was so amazingly powerful through its messages and characters.
Starr Carter is a 16-year-old girl living in a neighborhood of violence, drug dealers, etc. When her friend is killed by a cop, the world goes into a frenzy. Starr is overwhelmed, but she learns to be brave, bold, and supportive, all while trying to figure out life for herself.

Honestly, I didn't expect much of this book and was dreading to read it, as I thought it would be boring after reading the summary. But BAM! I opened it and was hooked to the end. It kept me up through weekend nights reading, and I was itching through class, just so I could read it.

It had so many powerful messages about the world, bravery, life, racism, and finding your identity.
I think this is a book you should totally read, and I will not hesitate to give it 5 stars.
