Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas by Adam Kay
3.0
I haven’t read the first book by Adam Kay, This is Going to Hurt, but I had high expectations of his second, Twas the Nightshift Before Christmas - because of good reviews.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t that happy with The Nightshift. Sometimes it was funny, sometimes sad, sometimes thoughtful, and sometimes hilarious, but there was no unity between his sketches, apart from them all being set at Christmas time. Similar to the author who missed Christmas evenings with his family, I felt like I missed one too - his first book maybe. In the end, I felt like I was being fed leftovers after a grander and much better party.
Also, I didn’t quite like the company of the author - it felt like he was too much of himself, which wasn’t particularly charming or worth it.
