This Wild, Wild Country by Inga Vesper
5.0
Wow, what a book!!! Inga has done it again. Captures both the freedom, the angst and the chaos of 1970s America, of people not wanting to conform to a capitalist life and protesting against the War in Vietnam… amongst the backdrop of a small town in the Wild West where the law is taken into men’s hands and the lure of Gold can turn people into monsters. There’s the hippie lifestyle vs a normal every day life, but both have darker sides to them, one has drugs and sex that can border on danger to oneself, whilst the other is violent, domestic abuse and knowing there has to be a way out but trying to find that courage can be a journey in and of itself. A truly remarkable book.
