Finale by Stephanie Garber

I cannot simply believe that this is how this series came to an end. It was magical, and I went out of reading this book with eyes red and puffy from crying.
I went through days of having a book hangover and I was so lost.
But, it's been a couple of days, I said I would organize my thoughts and I am going to try now.
I gave this book 5 stars because as always, Stephanie's writing style and her world-building are surreal and even though you are supposed to hate them, you find yourself loving even the evilest characters. I also love the theme of dreams and hopes weaving itself throughout the book and filling tiny gaps, making the book so much more whimsical.
Finale is not my favorite book in this series though, because I don't agree with very few of the things that happened.
Legend's character arc, for example, because I never viewed him as evil, and suddenly, he had all these evil tendencies. I couldn't hate him for it, though, because as readers, we all know what might does to people. So yes, Legend's character arc was justified, but I found myself being drawn away from him throughout the book.
And instead, I found myself drawn more and more to Jacks. It's funny because now it seems to me as if Jacks and Legend swapped bodies.
In this book, Jacks' character arc, to me, included a lot of compassion and love for Tella and I shipped them a lot, so I was very sad to find that Tella did not return the love for him. I thoroughly enjoyed the time the book spent talking about Jacks and letting me explore his character because he definitely is the prince of my heart.
Was it a surprise for me to see Tella and Legend end up together? No. But I didn't like it.
Scarlett's character arc and the introduction of the Fallen Star as the actual antagonist/villain stunned me - I LOVED it. By now, I am sure that my love for villains is no secret anymore and so I, of course, found myself naturally drawn towards Gavriel and the things he did, and I, of course, lost many tears over the way he treated his daughter throughout the book. I thought that the way Gavriel, Paloma, and Scarlett tied together was done in a genius way and it was one of the most unexpected plot twists ever.
I don't want to drag this review on forever, but if you are looking to cry your heart out, Finale is definitely the way to go, but I would advise you to find a character from the previous books to get properly attached to for the spell to work.
I also want to thank Stephanie and the team over at Fairyloot for making my reading experience so much better with the Fairyloot Collector's Edition box. It was such a magical experience, and I definitely do not regret crying buckets of tears over this book.
