If You Could See the Sun by Ann Liang

3.0

I picked up this book knowing that it featured my favourite trope: academic rivals to lovers. No lie, it gave what it said it would give. But I just feel like the storyline could've given more angst, and more unexpected developments. Everything in the story felt predictable, and midway into the book I only continued to read to finish the book because I knew exactly how it was going to end.
Another one og issues with the book was how it dealt with the shocking news of how Sun turns invisible. No one questions it or bothers to delve deep into it, their first reaction is of shock and almost instantly they recover. It almost feels unreal and inauthentic.
That being said, the writing was simplistic and easy to follow. Sometimes too easy.
