I loved Cultish when I read it in 2021, so I knew I had to check out Amanda Montell’s first book. And dare I say, I liked Wordslut even better!

This was a fascinating look at how language develops, how culture informs language and language informs culture, and how the fact that English evolved in and continues to exist in a society controlled by men affects how everyone interprets linguistic styles predominantly associated with women. 

I learned a lot and it reads quickly, as Montell’s humor comes through on every page. Highly recommend.
