Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

5.0

I thought the more I read this book the less of a chance that I'll turn into a grinning mess. Yeah. Nope. Third time reading and my cheeks are hurting from how much i couldn't stop smiling.

I just love my children okay...I love Simon (even if he's an idiot most of the time). I love Abby. I love Nick. I love Nora and Alice. I love Blue (...nope not gonna accidentally spoil this). I love Leah. I LOVE ALL THESE CHARACTERS WITH ALL MY HEART. SO FREAKING MUCH.

I mean, I lost my shit over Simon showing up for like three paragraphs in "The Upside of Unrequited". And when Abby and Nick made an appearance. I wish I could give a solid reason to why I love this book but I can't. Becky Albertalli's writing just pulls me in.

Despite how amazing this book is I do have one problem.

The whole "it's way easier for lesbians to come out" thing. I might of read into this wrong? Someone correction me if I did. But I got the vibe like once. It's more prominent in the movie but still.

However, in Leah is supposedly bisexual (via the synopsis of "Leah on the Offbeat) so I sincerely hope that this topic will have more light shed on it.

I actually didn't notice this until it was pointed out by a few people on GR's.

I just. I love this book okay. I love these characters. I love the world (or as Albertalli calls it, the Simonverse).

This book just makes my inside turn to mush. It's impossible to not grin, laugh, or make inhuman noises while reading Blue and Simon's emails.

Okay okay I need to stop because if not I'll just ramble for hours about how much I love this book.

P.S. LOVE, SIMON WAS ONE OF THE BEST ADAPTATIONS I'VE WATCHED SO FAR. THE CAST WAS PERFECT. THEY KEPT IT ALMOST THE SAME. IT STILL MADE ME CRY, LAUGH, GRIN, AND MAKE WEIRD NOISES
