I first read “Becoming Mallory” when it came out and LOVED it!! I still think about the book all the time. The moment Elaine Evans mentioned this book I knew it was a must read. First off let’s talk about this cover 😍 It’s so beautiful and perfect for this story. The book starts in 1995 but goes all the way back to 1990 and I’m such a sucker for books written in a 90’s setting. I was told the story would make me mad at times and it sure did but it also broke my heart just as much. The back and forth in this book is REAL! I was so invested in both Maria and Sam’s lives together but also apart. At times the book did get a little too wordy and explained way too many things in detail but it helped take us right to that very moment so I couldn’t be too annoyed. I’ve never loved two characters so much but also be so mad at them time and time again. Like why? If you know you are in love with each other then why be with other people? It definitely gives “right person, wrong time” big time. Just like most love stories this one is messy, raw, emotional and you can’t help but root for Maria & Sam! By the end of the book, you’ll feel like you personally know Sam and Maria and that says so much about Elaine’s ability to write such in-depth books that will have you feeling every emotion imaginable. It’s a whole journey to get to their HEA but I promise it’s worth it. Every letter, email, and text is worth it!
