In this 3rd book in the series Meg continues to make friends and is learning more about her cutting and visions. She is trying to learn more about herself and how she feels about living in the world after being captive for so long. Everything she is learning her friends and her are making into a guide for taking care of the other girls like herself and how they relate to the outside world. Meanwhile a lot of the humans are getting more aggressive toward the Others in the courtyard. Things are going downhill quickly for the relationship between them. Now Simon is trying to take care of the humans that work for them and/or are friends to them. In a way there are better relationships between some humans and Others but some are getting worse.
This has a lot of worldbuilding and relationship building. If you have enjoyed the previous books you will like this.
