The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
5.0
I had been on a small WW2 novel kick and am now kicking myself that it took me so long to get to reading this book!
I can't tell you how historically accurate it is, but the story is moving, heartwarming, gut wrenching, all of it (I cried). It seems to have a little bit of everything: a glimpse at France throughout the war, romance - but not too much, family tension, family love, suffering, fear, heroism, terrifying Germans, kind Germans, loss, closure.
I listened to this as an audiobook and the combined writing style and narration sucked me right in. 10/10 glad I read it.
