"you came out screaming / and alive and look at you now, look at how / you've learned to hide your teeth." —"Ode to My Bitch Face"
gatwood has such a biting, punchy writing style even while modeling after other poets and it makes sense considering most of her poems are unflinchingly about womanhood and sexuality and her experiences with both of those themes. i was more focused on her writing style than any feeling that might've arisen while reading though which is why i rated it 3 stars ngl
