How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu
2.0
I love the title, and I LOVE the cover art, so I really wanted to like this one. But boring and forgettable are the first words that come to mind.
For a book of short stories that are all somewhat connected and happening in the same universe, the stories were not connected enough. There was too much going on and the characters and premises of each story were somewhat vague. Is this a book about global warming? A plague? Space travel? This should have just been a collection of short stories that are not connected at all. Or, had a more focused theme.
There were a couple standouts that I really enjoyed, I think it was the first two, but I honestly couldn't even tell you want most of the others were about, and this is after having just finished the book.
