Figs. I loved this book so much. I think it's the best thing I've read so far this year.
Can I somehow give it more than five stars?
This book, this story, those characters. It was everything I hoped it would be.
Henry has such a brilliant voice and point of view, you can't help but instantly fall in love with them.
Forbidden love, secret identities, severed heads & a feral ferret make up what was an utter joy to read from start to finish. Part Detective story part Queer coming of age. I loved the mixture of Henry's journal, Septimus' notes, Matthew's case book and the Divison's logs so you get bits & pieces of the information and you can piece things together yourself and then watch as everything comes together.
This will be a book that I come back to time and time again. It filled my heart with so much joy that I just kept sending quotes to people every other page. Could Pip Property be any more iconic?
I'll probably come back and write more but for now just know that this book is EVERYTHING. Nat Reeves is now on my auto-buy authors list. Also I might have to start using fruit as curse words from now on because that was far too cute.
"And they know who I am, and the sky's not fallen in, and - perhaps most astonishingly of all - I'm quite not afraid that it will. I feel precisely the opposite of afraid."
