Writing and the Writer by Frank Smith

informative reflective medium-paced

3.25

For a book that is based on a seemingly bland topic, it does well to dive deep into the research without becoming an over-extended bland research paper itself.

Writing and the Writer makes you evaluate the relationships between learning and writing, diving into both scientific articles and real life examples. My friends and I have differing opinions on writing, whether it’s creative or formal, and this book made us realise the motives and values we hold towards the act of writing itself.

Overall,  while occasionally going off into unnecessary tangents, the book is an interesting read.
