Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler
4.25
This was a tougher read than I anticipated - a lot more heavy in subject matter both because of all the horrific things happening, and the religious aspects.
The start of each chapter having a section from Earthseed: Books of the Living reminded me a bit of Dune, which was unexpected but I enjoy that kind of storytelling, getting extra tid-bits about the world or the characters etc throughout the story.
I think I could have done with having more, personality from Lauren(and for her not to be 18 and ending up in a relationship with a 57 year old) but overall this is less about who she is and more of what she represents, and how people interact with that. I am looking forward to seeing how things go for Acorn in the next book.
