I really want to love this book. It's an easy read and the story is really engaging, the world is really interesting. But the author seems determined to introduce as many world building elements as possible and expand on absolutely none of them.

A very interesting, distinct, and memorable character will be introduced, along with some surface details of their history, but then neither they nor their associates are ever mentioned again. New elements come on fast, and are gone just as frequently.

I understand that the main character is supposed to be a fish out of water, but in my view the author goes too far in explaining none of this very interesting world.
