This was my first book in verse!! I listened to the audiobook and it brought to life the characters in a way I don’t think would be possible just reading it physically. I majorly recommend the audiobook, Elizabeth Acevedo and Melanie Luisa-Marte do a justice to the Yahaira and Camino that I don’t think my voice could ever have offered.

The story itself is so beautiful and the pain of the two girls as they come to terms with the pain and joys of losing a loved one, a reality of life while also gaining a new connection you never even thought possible.

I loved being able to be dropped into the rich and vibrant Dominican culture and it sucked me in just as much as the story did.

A 5/5 story, I don’t know what else I could’ve asked for in this journey. It fulfilled all my needs.
