A pretty bleak spy story. Promised a lot more than it really delivered both in plot and in character development. I'm still not sure what motivated Leiser, or Avery or why Haldane was so bitter with the world. Some things are fantastical (Leiser hooking up with Anna without barely a conversation).

It was all a bit 2nd rate and not very gripping. I put it down 3 or 4 times for a few days and had to force myself to finish it
