Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn

5.0

I cannot believe this is Flynn's debut novel. I was first introduced to her writing several years ago when i picked up Gone Girl in the tenth grade. Sharp Objects was just as captivating as Gone Girl. This is exactly how a thriller should be written. It's eerie and scary without the music to help those feelings come across. I was conflicted with not wanting the story to end and wanting so bad to know what happened next. The way flynn writes characters that are so complex and not always good . They're deeply interesting- exactly how characters should be in these types of stories. Unreliable narrators are some of my favorite ways of storytelling and Flynn does a fantastic job at it. I am unsure what took me so long to read some of her other work, but my god, there is a reason her stories are adapted to film and television.
