Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
4.0
I went back and forth on my review. The book starts slow, but that allows for Tate and Kya’s relationship to develop beautifully. However, it’s so strange to me when authors choose to make their female protagonist (criminally) younger than her love interest. Did anyone else not enjoy Tate describing her pre-pubescent body and his attraction to it? They should have been the same age.
There were also some plot holes that weren’t resolved by the quick epilogue. I wish the wrap-up had been treated with the same care as the rest of the book.
However, once the story picked up, I was hooked. I needed to know the ending, and stayed up way past my bedtime to power through the last fifty pages or so. Despite its flaws, I generally enjoyed the book.
