Is this a cliche romance about a misunderstood man falling in love with a nerdy woman who makes overly sweet coffee? Yes! But it is a great pleasure to read a book about a guy who has lived a hard life, show empathy towards strangers.
Even with the “troubled” past of Cash, it is an interesting read as Bailey starts learning about Cash and having a hard time reading his intentions due to his hot and cold persona. Bailey also has her relationship issues unlike Cash she doesn’t allow it to consume her. Bailey’s issues with her mother does effect her towards the end but she processes those issues and confront Cash about his feelings toward her.
As Cash is trying to fight his attraction to Bailey, Bailey is getting whiplash from the amount of contradictory information she’s learning about Cash. Along with the reader, all of the information that Bailey is getting about Cash is jaw dropping, especially the revelation that Cash only likes BLACK COFFEE. So it blows the mind of the reader as well as Bailey that the man was drinking overly sweet coffee just because Bailey made it.
All of this growing tension reaches a head when Cash learns that Bailey has no plans for Christmas, he invites her to his mother’s house. It’s during their stay at his mother’s house that Bailey learns about Cash’s past and troubles that resulted in his issues with commitment issues.
In the end this is a fast and easy read.
