Sir Gawain and the Green Knight by
5.0
The nobles thereupon
Confer, and all agree:
Gawain should take him on,
And let the king stay free.
This is a verse book, like a poem/song all the way through which was different for me as I've never read anything like it at all! So it was a wonderful new experience.
Sir Gawain is my favourite Knight from Arthurian legend so I LOVE having a book all about him. I really enjoyed the focus on Gawain and how he was portrayed, I love how everything was worded and described.
I don't think I'll read any more verse books because it is a bit to get my head around but since this book was about something I hold close to my heart I made sure I stuck to it so I could enjoy the entire story and I'm glad I did.
If you LOVE Gawain as much as I do (and I know a few people that do) then you should read this book!!
Another thing I enjoyed was this little verse about Morgan le Fay, and it sent my little shipper heart into a frenzy!
Through the power of Morgan le Fay, part of my menage -
By her wiles in witchcraft and her cleverness
She has mastered magic skills once kept by Merlin,
For it is well known that long ago she fell in love
With that wise wizard, as your knights have heard at your own hearth-side.
A delicious short read of a book! Yes, I did just use the word delicious to describe a book.
