Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips

2.5/5 rounded up because of the ending
Now this sounds like a book right up my alley, unfortunately it wasn’t all I hoped it would be. I can understand why some readers love this book and I totally respect that, but it didn’t work for me. My favorite moments were the beginning and the end. Everything else in between felt confusing and just drawn out. I feel there are sooo many characters and some who go by other names so you have to keep that in mind too. There’s a list of the characters in the beginning of the book and I even took a screenshot of all those names to have them saved on my phone to refer back to while reading on my kindle (so I didn’t have to keep flipping back). After some time, I just didn’t want or care to keep track of the people anymore. It just felt like a bit much and without a big payoff in the end really. That being said, the beginning moments of the abduction and the ending were so great!!! I just wish it made it feel worth the journey for me.
