Rapid Release: How to Write & Publish Fast For Profit by Jewel Allen

3.0

I've heard a lot about rapid release novels over the course of my writing career and am currently considering it for a novella series, so I picked up this book hoping to do a little more research on some good strategies to employ.

For those new to the idea of a rapid release, this book does have some interesting information. However, it should be noted that this book is written more blog style about the author's writing process - focusing more on genre, word counts and where the money is, often falling into the trap of 'I think', 'I believe', etc. Little bits like this woven through her narrative left me with the impression that the author wasn't entirely confident in her own information.

One thing to note is that every writer's mileage may very. The author often expressed she could write 40K words of a quality, well-crafted in 5 days - a concept I'm not entirely sold on. My experience is very different from hers though so that might also be me peeking over the fence like 'what magic are you using'?

Anywho, I DNF'd around 50%. But while this particular book didn't work for me, it might be helpful to anyone who's new to the idea of a rapid release, loves to write quick & easy stories, or readers who love to peek behind the scenes of how another writer works.
