Not a book I can really review fairly, since I adored it so much when I was in my early teens. As an adult it is clear that she had not thought her world out more than just enough to get her message across, but in the late 80s I took it for granted that she had built every detail & thus spent many, many fun hours going through the text trying to figure out exactly how the True Game worked and what the rules were for each piece and what she meant when she called a Sorcerer 'clear glass' etc etc etc. It was a strange double vision to read as an adult and see how much is just barely sketched, and how slowly it moves, and then to suddenly come across a paragraph or two I had fixated on 35 years ago -- I am glad I reread it, I will reread the others too, and I suspect I can read this one a few more times, but there really isn't a lot there, so I will need to be careful not to use it up.
Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Rape and Torture
