Serenity: Leaves on the Wind by Georges Jeanty, Dan Dos Santos, Zack Whedon, Fábio Moon

3.0

Why am I not surprised that even when the plan is to do nothing, plans just doesn't go smooth for these folks?

Following the events of the film, everyone is looking for the crew of our favorite Firefly class transport. While trying to get out of the trouble they find themselves in this time, our heroes are going to meet some new allies, run into some old enemies (and recruit one for a little bit), and try desperately to just be left alone.

I was a little surprised about what seems to be the status quo where we join the story. Not that I'm upset about the development, just that I didn't expect it to occur a) so quickly and b) off screen. And I'm getting the sense we're seeing a turning point for the captain on a journey back to where he was before the war broke him down.

My big issue is that it feels dark. Not that what came before was all sunshine and puppies. And it's understandable given where the characters find themselves this go round. It just felt like it was missing some of that humor that was also a part of the show and film.
